Prislovi pogostosti

Introduction
Prislovi [adverbs] so samostalniki, ki funkcionirajo kot modifikatorji drugih elementov v stavku. Lahko nam dajo širok spekter informacij.
Prislovi pogostosti [adverbs of frequency] nam dajejo informacije o pogostosti nekega dejanja {glej Prislovi – Pogostost, stopnja A1}.
Form
Prislovi ponavadi stojijo za pomožnimi glagoli (to be/to have) ali pred drugimi glagoli.
Prislove pogostosti uporabljamo za opisovanje pogostosti nekega dogodka (nedoločni in določni).
- Najpogosteje rabljeni prislovi nedoločne pogostosti [indefinite frequency] so: now and then, seldom, occasionally, frequently, regularly, constantly…
- Najpogosteje rabljeni prislovi določne pogostosti [definite frequency] so: daily, weekly, monthly, periodically, yearly…
Example
Prislovi nedoločne pogostosti
- Now and then we go to the country.
- I seldom go to the beach.
- He has a flat in London now, but he still comes home occasionally.
- I frequently have headaches.
- She exercises regularly.
- They constantly feel bad.
Prislovi določne pogostosti
- You go shopping daily.
- Martin has weekly visits from his mother.
- We get social welfare payment monthly.
- He periodically complains about his ex-wife.
- I pay for the ambulance service yearly.
Use
Prislove pogostosti uporabljamo tudi kot časovne prislove; da opišemo kako pogosto/redno se nekaj dogaja.
Prislove nedoločne pogostosti uporabljamo za izražanje ideje o pogostosti, brez da bi izdali informacije o tem, natančno kako pogosto se nekj dogaja.
Prislove določne pogostosti uporabljamo za izražanje točno, kako pogosto se nekaj dogaja.

Na primer:
— “I seldom go to the gym.” = Osebek (I) gre le občasno v telovadnico.
— “I’m periodically going to the gym.” = Osebek (I) gre pogosto v telovadnico.
