Introduction
To Be fiili gramerin temel taşlarından bir tanesidir. Yardımcı eylem olarak görev yapar ve düzensiz[irregular] fiillerden bir tanesidir.
Geçmişte olup bitmiş eylemlerden bahsetmek için fiilin Geçmiş Zaman [past tense] hali kullanılır.

Use
To be fiilinin Geçmiş Zaman hali özne ve nesne arasında bağlayıcıdır. Özne hakkında daha ayrıntılı bilgi sağlar.
Summary
Geçmiş Zaman [past tense] formunu geçmişte yaşanan ve sonuçlanan olaylardan bahsederken kullanırız. To be, Geçmiş Zamanda düzensiz [irregular] olur.
- Olumlu: (I) was, (you) were, (he/she/it) was, (we/you/they) were;
- Olumsuz: (I) was not, (you) were not, (he/she/it) was not, (we/you/they) were not;
- Soru: was (I…?), were (you…?), was (he/she/it…?), were (we/you/they…?).
Örnek:
—Olumlu: “The sugar was enough for the cake.”
—Olumsuz: “The sugar wasn’t enough for the cake.”
—Soru: “Was the sugar enough for the cake?”
