Introduction

Vezniki [conjunctions] so besede, ki funkcionirajo kot povezava med različnimi stavki in elementi v povedi.

Form

Vezniki so besede, ki povezujejo besede, besedne zveze in stavke v povedi.
Glavni vezniki so: and, but, because in when.Struktura povedi:
Clause 1 + conjunctions + clause 2

Example

And

  • Kevin reads the newspaper and watches television every Friday.
  • They live in New York and love its beautiful library.

But

  • I like maths lessons but I don’t really like history lessons.
  • You can go hiking there but you have to be very careful.

Because

  • Anna doesn’t want to take the exam because she did not study.
  • We can’t come to the party tonight because we must study.

When

  • You get very tired when you don’t sleep.
  • We came from school when nobody was home.

Use

Veznike uporabljamo za povezovanje besed, fraz, stavkov in povedi, ter da pokažemo odnose med njimi.

Stavke lahko kombiniramo na različne načine:

  • And: povezuje dve povedi (dodajanje);
  • But: izraža pogoj ali kontrast (nasprotje);
  • Because: izraža razlog (vzrok);
  • When: izraža čas (čas).
