Introduction
Primerjave s pridevniki in prislovi uporabljamo za primerjanje stvari, ljudi in dejanj, izražanje enakosti ali neenakosti med njimi.
Primernik enakosti [comparative of equality] (stavek as…as [as…as clause]) uporabljamo z enakim namenom.

Form
Strukturo primernika enakosti (stavek as…as) ponavadi najdemo v treh oblikah:
Trdilna:
Subject + verb + as + adjective/adverb + as + object + …
Subject + verb + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …
Nikalna:
Subject + verb + not + as + adjective/adverb + as + object + …
Subject + verb + not + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …
Vprašalna:
Verb + subject + as + adjective/adverb + as + object + …?
Verb + subject + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …?

- Identične stvari
- This box of biscuits is as big as mine.
- This restaurant makes food as good as my mum’s.
- Različne stvari
- A kilo of potatoes is not as expensive as a kilo of steaks.
- Her mountain boots are not as cheap as his backpack.
- Spraševanje po informacijah o enakosti/neenakosti
- Is this box of biscuits as big as mine?
- Do I have champagne as cold as yours?
Use
Primernik enakosti (stavek as…as) uporabljamo:
- Ko govorimo o identičnih stvareh (trdilna);
- Ko govorimo o različnih stvareh (nikalna);
- Ko sprašujemo po informacijah o enakosti/neenakosti različnih stvari (vprašalna).
Summary
Primernik enakosti [comparative of equality] (ali as…as stavek [as…as clause]) uporabljamo za poudarjanje enakosti ali neenakosti med dvema stvarema, ljudema ali dejanjema.

— Trdilna: “My doll is as lovely as yours.”
— Nikalna: “My doll is not as lovely as yours.”
— Vprašalna: “Is my doll as lovely as yours?”
